This quote is a great example of the difference between a book and a movie. In the movie, it's a scene where the character Clary keeps pushing another character to understand how she feels, and she can't seem to make her understand. The problem here is that Clary never explains why she feels this way. She just keeps repeating the words “You don't get it, Clary.
You don't understand what it's like to live always at war.” The dialogue in the movie is very much different from the book, so it doesn't quite feel as real as it should. Maybe if they had put in more explanation about what life was like for Clary, we would have been able to connect with her struggle a little better.
